Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif formally inaugurated the landmark EU-Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad, emphasizing a strategic shift from traditional dialogue to concrete deal-making.
The forum brought together high-level delegates from the European Union, including the EU Ambassador to Pakistan and representatives from major European investment groups. The event focused on six priority sectors: Agriculture, Information Technology, Minerals, Energy, Industry, and Human Resource Development.
Economic Significance:
- Market Expansion: Providing a platform to connect Pakistan's emerging markets with nearly 700 million people across Europe.
- Sectoral Synergy: Highlighting opportunities in high-growth sectors where European technology and Pakistani potential can create sustainable value.
- GSP+ Integration: Strengthening the framework for trade facilitation and ensuring long-term continuity of Pakistan's status in European markets.
The Prime Minister noted that this forum is a timely initiative that aligns with the Sovereign Mandate of SIFC to streamline foreign direct investment and foster enduring, mutually beneficial partnerships with global economic powers.
